At that moment it's very large, that's right. But on the other hand, this version works fine for me and this program no longer crashes when I try to play a corrupted sidfile. So I replaced my previous version with the new one. Thank you!

@Fred As far as Electron apps go, it certainly looks nice. But it's a really hard sell when the previous version was a <1MB .exe and the new one (with not that many immediate functionality changes) is a 164MB monstrosity that needs to install a whole shader compilation pipeline and renderer.
That and me really hating the whole dark UI theme everywhere fad... :)

@Adam and Mr. SID, the new version is designed to be performant with a great UI experience made in modern program languages and frameworks that I prefer and that also can be used on multiple platforms. It was not made to be small, although that is something I would have preferred as well. The code is now written in Rust and the UI is made with Electron in VueJS. Electron might be replaced with Tauri in the future and then the size of the program will be really small compared to what it is now.

The next plan is to make support for Mac and Linux. After that I hope that the Tauri framework is more mature and then I will see if ACID64 can be migrated easily to it.

@HIGHLINE you can use JSIDDevice V4.3 with ACID64 and if you want to use the Ultimate II+ then use version 3 of ACID64 since the Ultimate devices are not yet supported in this version.

Great GUI design, but I really miss "copy file" on RMB. It looks like skip time is much faster in this version.
I had no issues installing Acid on latest Win10 build.

@HIGHLINE just use JSIDDevice 4 as virtual SID for Acid64.

Hi Fred, good to see a new release. Its been a while. ;)
What JCH meant was that the installers first (selected) choice is "only me" so everyone would just click continue when only they use their computer anyway instead of clicking "anyone who uses this computer (all users)".

As it seems the player is still only for extra hardware ?i would love to use this player with resid or so just to play my regular HVSC tunes and the benefits of this player. Like single channels etc. Since ive sold my HardSID i cant use Acidplayer anymore.
However, There is a field with an IP in it. Sid Device ip. Can i assume that i can lock my real C64 to it via my Ultimate II+ Cartridge, just via a network cable (from PC to UL II+) and then i can control and listen my Sid Tunes via Acid Player from my C64 sid ??
As you also (luckily) programmed the Sid Player on the Ultimate i guess this could be an optional feature.
Anyway, always good to see something new from you man ;)

Oh, it seems to be a bloated web app now? Too bad, I really liked to use this on my work PC. I'll stick with 3.x then...

I really like this player and use it a lot but this version is not something I would use. I am not a fan of the redesigned GUI or how the main executable is now 100mb. Also, why does it need a setup.exe?

In the second screen of the installer, if you select the option "Only for me" then it will use appdata as destination folder by default. If you select "anyone who uses this computer (all users)" then the installer will ask you for permissions and you can specify the destination folder. This is the behavior of the NSIS installer which can't be configured unfortunately.

Just select to install the application for all users and you can specify the destination folder.

Great looking UI and features galore.

On my Windows 10 (which updated itself to 20H2 yesterday) the installer suggested a destination path in APPDATA. Is this by design?

The installer vaporized trying to install there.

In the second attempt I browsed to my preferred location in "Program Files" instead, and then the installation succeeded.
