SID originals that are actually covers
This kind of information is (usually, but not always) included with STIL, but anyways, does not seem to be common knowledge here and there.
Personally, i was a bit surprised to learn about:
Zoids - Synergy - Ancestors
International Karate - Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence
Turrican Title Theme - Transformers (1986) - Escape (and the end tune, too)
Lazy Jones - Star Dust - Electronic Ensemble - It Happened Then
What else is notable, from the top of your heads? =) |

The original Composer of "It happened then" has commented that "Stardust" from Lazy Jones is NOT a cover of it, btw (and its 4 Notes that are similar...) |

Talking about stuff not in STIL yet, maybe it's just me and maybe too vague, but I always found Ghosts 'n Goblins (ingame music at around 00:30, about the time you normally kill the first sub boss within level 1, that fire-spitting flying screaming thingie before taking the first ferry) was heavily stealing bass line and also otherwise somewhat similar to
Cyndi Lauper's She-Bop
PS: Talking about Cyndi Lauper, her offical Goonie's song Goonies 'R' Good Enough was so massacred beyond recognition by Fitzpatrick in the C64 Goonies Game that Cyndi herself would not recognize it I guess |

Cyndi Lauper's She-Bop I see what you mean. Seems to be straddling the line just like LazyJonesStarDust vs ElectronicEnsembleItHappenedThen. =) "Heavily inspired by" rather than straight off cover? :) |

That kind of similarities happen (and not seldom) even without knowing the other tune :) Its not a "cover" because its similar for a few notes.
(edit: eg there are similar parts in good old "Just the two of us" and the modfile Timbaland "covered". It happens :)) |

Hubbard's version is a proof of saying by Stravinski: “A good composer does not imitate; he steals.” |
