Party Report

Organizers report
This was our second party ever (the first being fORNDATA 2o2o in june this summer), so we were quite hyped and also a bit nervous about the whole thing beforehand. First edition of fORNDATA was meant to be a small physical party on Gotland (the island outside of Sweden were we live) but due to the pandemic it of course had to go stream only. We didn't really have any equipment or experience but decided to try anyway. And we had tons of fun.

A few months later we decided to host another round already this year. A X-mas themed party seemed the perfect thing to do and we started planning for our second party just six months after the first. This time we at least had some idea what was awaiting us though.

We started buying in on equipment and preparing ourselves and ran into trouble after trouble but strived to overcome them. In the end we got most but not all of the necessary equipment in time for the party. Plans were made how to overcome all of that and most went ok in the end...

About the party itself we had huge amounts of fun and developed a real cozy athmosphere in the studio! We have access to a 13th century hall in the middle of World Heritage town of Visby that really helps us get into the right feeling. We spent some time on getting the studio to feel nice and "christmasy" which at least we organizers enjoyed a lot. ;)

But the main part - when we saw the compo entries starting to arrive we were so honoured and quite a bit nervous. The quality was AMAZING and some of the releases were of dignity that we would never have dreamed of...

In the end we streamed for about 7 hours with interviews, some happenings, demoshows and of course the compos. We hope and feel that the quality of the production was a giant leap from the first edition of fORNDATA but there is certainly more to do. Us organizers being mainly Amiga-guys learning the ways of the c64-scene has been a challenge at times but we are getting there.

But to summarize this quite long report - we absolutely in every possible way LOVE doing parties and are in it for the long run. This year has been such an amazing experience and we are deeply honoured and humble by the raw talent of sceners out there that has been participating in our compos!

As a final note of the evening we in the organizer team unanimously decided to go for another round of fORNDATA sUMMER on june the 5:th 2o21. It feels great to have something to look forward to and we have already started planning and looking into the necessary equipment upgrades.

Yours in service,
hRAVNKEL on behalf of fORNDATA cREW
